There was once a man, who was rich, named Bluebeard.  Bluebeard had so many riches, but nobody liked him, because he had a blue beard.  The blue beard is what made Bluebeard look ugly.  Bluebeard’s house was right next to a house who had two girls.  Bluebeard asked to marry one of the daughters.  Neither of the girls liked Bluebeard.

The two girls kept on wondering what had happen with all the other wives he married.  Bluebeard took a couple of the girl’s friends and the girls on a couple of picnics.  The younger daughter forgot about how she didn’t want to marry Bluebeard, so she married Bluebeard.

After a month from the marriage, Bluebeard was going to go on a trip.  Bluebeard showed his wife where all the keys were supposed to go.  Bluebeard said, “I forbid you to go into this room, because nothing will protect your from my anger.”

Bluebeard told the girl to invite all the friends she wanted.  All of the girl’s friends were impatient to see all the riches that Bluebeard owned.  The girl was too curious to see what was in the little room.  The girl left the crowd and went into the little room.

The girl opened the door and saw nothing at first.  The girl then saw that all of the wives that Bluebeard had married were dead from Bluebeard’s cutlass.  The girl was about to faint that she dropped the key.  The girl picked up the key and went into her room.

The girl picked up the key and tried to wipe the blood off the key, but the blood on the key was forever on the key.  The blood was enchanted.  The girl went back to her room and fainted.  Bluebeard came back that same evening.

The girl told Bluebeard that she was delighted about his return.  The following day Bluebeard asked for his keys.  The girl gave Bluebeard his keys.

The girl’s hand was shaking so much that Bluebeard easily guessed what had happened.  Bluebeard asked, “How come the little key is not here?”

The girl answered, “I must have left it upstairs.”

Bluebeard yelled, “I need the key now!”

There was no use in arguing, so she had to give him the key.  Bluebeard asked, “Why does the little key have blood on it?”

The girl answered, “I do not know anything about it.”

Bluebeard repeated, “You don’t know anything about it.  I know what happen.  You couldn’t resist going into that room.”

The girl begged for mercy but Bluebeard mumbled, “The hour has come for you to die.”

The girl asked, “If I know I’m going to die, will you give me a little time to say my prayers?”

Bluebeard answered, “A quarter of an hour.  Not a moment longer.”

The girl kept on asking her sister if her brothers were coming, because they promised the girl that they would come to see her.  The girl asked Bluebeard if she could have time to collect herself, but Bluebeard answered, “Your time has come.”

There was such a loud of a knock that Bluebeard had to open the door.  Bluebeard opened the door and found his wife’s brothers.  The girl’s brothers ran their swords straight through Bluebeard’s heart.

The girl laid on the floor almost as lifeless as her husband.  The girl was not even strong enough to lift herself up and kiss her brothers.  The girl had all the riches that Bluebeard owned.  The girl used some of the money to marry her sister to a man, to whom she loved for a long time, another sum of money to buy each of her brother a captain’s commision, and the rest of the money to marry herself to a man, who helped her forget all the terrible times she had with Bluebeard.
